Thermolec Model TU Plenum Heaters

Thermolec Plenum Heaters are the best way to convert a new or existing fossil fuel furnace into a clean, safe, convenient and economical dual fuel heating system.  Dual fuel heating systems allow you to heat your home with electricity at low-cost off-peak rates. The system automatically switches between electricity and fossil fuel to significantly reduce winter heating bills.

The Thermolec plenum heater mounts to the supply side ducting of your fossil fuel furnace and uses the furnace fan to move air across the plenum heater elements to heat your home. Both the fossil fuel furnace and the electric plenum heater utilize the same thermostat, minimizing installation cost.  The system is automatically controlled by the utility company’s load management or time of use control.

Thermolec’s modulating electric plenum heaters are ideal for air source heat pump systems. They supplement the heat pump as it gets colder outside, allowing the heat pump to be operated at lower ambient temperatures, thus getting the maximum possible efficiency and use of the heat pump.

Thermolec Custom Plenum Heaters

Thermolec can also build custom plenum heaters or duct heaters to operate with virtually any forced air system. Thermolec electric duct heaters are computer designed to the most stringent CSA standards to assure the highest quality and safety. Both staged and modulating units are available and can be built for either single or three phase power supply. Lead time for custom heaters is typically the shortest in the industry.

For custom plenum heater applications, a "Master/Slave" set-up can be used in situations where there is not enough room in the supply plenum area for a standard plenum heater. Separate coil panels are placed in multiple supply trunks allowing a homeowner to take full advantage of duel fuel/time of use rates that are offered by their electric coops.
